During my time here I’ve had to deal with various offices and departments on campus. Some of them have been helpful, and some have been difficult to work with and slow to get back to me with information that I needed. One office, however, has always been helpful and quick to get back to me—the Registrar’s Office.
My first experience with the Registrar’s Office came at the end of last semester when I was registering for classes and SIS decided that I couldn’t register for IED because I supposedly didn’t have the prerequisites. Instead of running all around campus, getting a waver form, and having it signed and delivering it to their office, I just went to my department and told them about the problem. A couple of hours later I got an e-mail from the Registrar’s Office saying that they had registered me for a section that fit into my schedule, and if I wanted to change sections, e-mail them which section I would rather be in.
My second experience with them came at the beginning of last week when I managed to lock myself out of my SIS account, definitely a problem as registration was drawing near. I e-mailed the Registrar’s Office telling them of my problem, and within three hours I had received a response saying that my account had been reset and what my temporary password was.
Either of these problems could have taken so much more of my time and become quite unpleasant, but thanks to the Registrar’s Office they were only minor inconveniences.
