The RPI Wrestling Club had a successful weekend of competition going 3-2 and placing fifth in the “Doug Cherry” Northeast Conference Duals. During the tournament, the team defeated NCWA 23rd ranked Valley Forge Military College 33-18 for its first win against a Top 25 ranked opponent. The team also defeated clubs from Yale and Rowan University but fell to teams from Bible Baptist College and the University of New Hampshire, who went on to take third and fourth, respectively.

Individually, many Rensselaer wrestlers were successful. Seeing his first action of the year, freshman John Hannah went an undefeated 5-0 on the weekend. His performance was capped by a match clinching a 10-1 major decision over defending Northeast Conference runner-up Keith Goren of Rowan University. Ben Meyer, currently ranked sixth in the NCWA, went 4-1 on the day, as did club president Mike Sell. Bryan Sullivan, ranked number four in the nation, went 3-2 along with Kurt Munz, club vice president, and Jon Papas.
