The women’s field hockey team played a rather disappointing game against the Skidmore Thoroughbreds Saturday, losing 5-2.

Hallory Mogren opened the scoring for the first half as she made a 33:06 goal for Skidmore on an assist by Colleen Barber. Taryn Howard scored another twenty seconds later, securing a two-point lead for Skidmore. Howard found the back of the net again for Skidmore on an assist by Lindsey Measeck at 21:42.

RPI’s Jessica Butler managed to put up some resistance, securing a goal at 19:31. Skidmore’s Jacki Flanagan later scored a 7:14 goal on an assist by Barber.

In the second, the Red Hawks were playing more cohesively, opening the half with a 31:07 goal by Butler with an assist by Chelsea Foley. They just couldn’t keep up the momentum. At 26:17 the Thoroughbred’s Howard closed out the scoring, on an assist by Flanagan.

While Skidmore heavily outshot the RPI team, 27-16, the RPI goalie Cathy Hotchkiss recorded 16 saves to the Thoroughbred’s seven saves by Kristine Osmond.

The Red Hawks will play an away game on Wednesday against nationally ranked William Smith in the ECAC Mid-Atlantic tournament.
