The Red Hawks faced a tough home weekend, playing the eighth ranked Continentals from Hamilton and the Hobart Statesmen.

RPI, coming off of a season high five game unbeaten streak, was clearly the underdog versus the Continentals. Chris Bohren started the scoring for the Red Hawks, finding the back of the net off of a rebound by Michael Greco. This goal gave RPI the lead going into halftime, but the Continentals struck quickly after the break. Just two minutes into the second half, Mike Galante fired a shot over Kenny Guzzardo’s head to tie the game at one.

The Red Hawks took the lead again fifteen minutes later when Bohren again found the net, skidding a shot past the Continental goalie to give RPI a 2-1 lead. Greco extended the lead by scoring a break away goal, fed by Bohren, with just under 23 minutes remaining. Hamilton made a valiant effort, scoring a goal off of Jared Fox’s head with 15:00 remaining, but failed to score again and fell short 3-2.

The Red Hawks, now with an unbeaten streak of six, faced the Hobart Statesmen on Saturday. RPI was looking good until 33:00 into the game, when Hobart struck quickly with two goals in less than two minutes. Bohren cut the deficit in half, with help from Craig DiDomenico, but Hobart extended its lead less than five minutes later to 3-1. Bohren again sliced the lead to one, scoring off of a defender with 23:06 remaining, but RPI could not find the goal again, and fell to the Statesmen 3-2.

The Red Hawks are still in contention for the playoffs, but they need a win Saturday at Vassar. This is the final game; with a win, RPI would finish the season 8-4-2, and have a chance at making the UCAA Tournament.
