On October 5, the RPI Red Hawks women’s field hockey team improved their record to 6-2 as they played the Oswego Lakers at Liverpool High School.

The RPI team was just more aggressive than the Oswego girls, attempting 12 shots to the Lakers’ six. The team managed to force five saves by the Oswego goalie, while pulling two goals out of the game.

In the first half Jessica Butler opened the scoring up at 20:31 on an assist by Jessica Pearson. While there were two other shots on the Oswego goal, goalie Ashley Perkins pulled off two saves, leaving the scoring for the half at one. Oswego didn’t manage to get any serious attempts on the goal.

The second half found only one goal by RPI at 34:16, scored by Sondra Sherman on a second assist for the day by Pearson. Oswego goalie Tiffani Vattiato recorded three saves, but no other goals were scored in the game.

The game’s final score was 2-0, with Red Hawk goalie Cathy Hotchkiss seeing no shots on goal.

The Red Hawks will try to extend their win streak on Friday at St. Lawrence.
