Look into other things RPI offers

As the first wave of tests rolls across campus, it appears as though many people have greatly reduced their involvement with campus activities. There is little awareness of what is going on, and seemingly even less participation. For example, how many people knew last week was Engineering Discovery Week and Greek Week? If you didn’t, chances are you were not the only one. It seems that it is time to re-evaluate the way our campus is going this year. Rush is over, so some people seem to think that there isn’t much left to do.

I’d like to say that is not the case, in fact there are still many ways to get involved on campus, whether you are of greek affiliation or not. Perhaps it is not the way things are being run, but the apathy that runs rampant at RPI. Well then, I would encourage you all to start asking questions about what is going on. Ask your senator or representative what they have done for your class recently. Ask the Panhel and IFC what their plans are. There is still work going on in these councils and groups, but the image is that there is not. Many of us are trying to get the information out there, but there is a general lack of good communication on this campus.

Statistically, RPI is seen as being one of the least happy campuses in the nation, yet I know plenty of people who are very happy to be here. I strongly feel that if everyone took a more active part in the way things are run, you’d see some more positive action, and more movements to benefit student life. So, get off that computer, stop playing those video games, and interact with people. I think you too will find it to be more beneficial to your psyche.
