E-Board setting up

Zachary Ament
President of the Union

Hello everyone. It’s the last week of September and it seems the first month has flown right by. I hope everyone has been keeping up with his or her work and taking some time to enjoy this extended summer weather.

This week I would like to take some time to encourage everyone to go out and support our athletic teams and our athletes. These students are your friends and peers working hard everyday on the field to represent Rensselaer. Take a break from your work and cheer on our teams. It’s your opportunity to be loud and rowdy. The Union will be working on posting the schedules of our teams so you know when and where they’re playing.

This past week the Union Executive Board conducted a formal business meeting in which several proposals were addressed. In all cases the proposals were reallocation requests to purchase necessary equipment or expand current programs. The E-board continued its goal setting and objectives discussion during the meeting. Throughout the dis-cussion, all members stressed the importance of gathering student feedback and determined the need for a formal program. The student feedback program will be constantly developed and executed by the Board throughout the year. Club and committee assignments were also given out during the meeting. The six committees that operate under the E-Board are the Technology Committee, the Building Committee, the Marketing Committee, the Constitution Committee, the Budgeting Committee, and Business Operations. Each committee will be establishing their goals and objectives over the next week. Everyone is welcome to take part in a committee as the positions are not appointed, but voluntary.

This week the E-Board will be conducting a formal business meeting to address several proposals from different clubs. If you are interested in seeing an E-Board meeting you are welcome to attend, as all meetings are open to the public. The E-board is still seeking a 2006 representative, so interested freshmen, please apply.

Everyone is welcome to attend Executive Board meetings, which are held on Wednesdays at 7:30 pm in the Patroon Room of the Union. As always, please feel free to send me any questions or comments at pu@rpi.edu and x8598 or stop by the office in the Union 3136.
