Rensselaer students can learn about Asian culture and history on Friday and Saturday during Asian Awareness Week. Events will include a night market and karoake contest on Friday from 8 pm to 10 pm, a career workshop on Saturday from 12:30 pm to 2:30 pm, a showing of The Debut on Saturday from 2:30 to 4:30 pm, Asian Night on Saturday from 8:30 pm to 10 pm, and Celebration Party on Saturday starting at 11 pm.

Asian Awareness Weekend was established to educate students about cultural and social issues between and beyond the Asian community and to remind the Asian community that students appreciate the work and struggles of the past and recognize Asian history.

The organizers of Asian Awareness Weekend felt that the weekend’s events will permit Asian and non-Asian students from RPI and other universities to share ideas about making progress in current situations, preparing for the future, and promoting the best aspects of Asian culture and history.
