RPI men’s swim team member Ben Fell traveled to Miami, Ohio, for the NCAA National Championship meet this past weekend, earning two All-American Honorable Mentions in the 100-meter and 200-meter backstroke and setting a new school record.

Fell’s time in the 200, 1:52.62, earned him a 13th place finish and set a new school record. In the 100, his time of 52.63 earned him 16th place. He also swam in the 500-meter freestyle where he finished 28th with a time of 4:39.85.

During the most recent off-season he badly injured his knee and required surgery. Despite his injury, he returned to the pool almost immediately and continued to train in hopes of a return trip to the national championships after his first trip as a sophomore. Fell achieved that goal and capped off an incredible season with his performance at the NCAA meet.
