To the Editor,
I just read the editorial by Nick Di Liberto on reassigning registration times based on one’s QPA/GPA. In my three years at college, I have to admit that his plan is the most asinine idea I have ever heard of. However, I do feel somewhat bad for Nick, because while my high school did offer AP classes ... in Latin, German, French, and Spanish! Ideal classes for someone going into Linguistics, but not very useful for someone like myself in the Lally School.
Why should I, who went to a community college for three semesters, received over a 3.8, and graduated summa cum laude be penalized and take a back seat to a returning RPI student just because he has been here longer than I have? I worked just as hard as every other RPI student last year. I don’t think there is anyone on this campus that wants to stay here any longer than they have to and pay the extra $13,000 plus per semester because they have a 2.5 and all of the classes they need to graduate are being filled by sophomores and juniors who have a higher GPA.
My advice to Nick Di Liberto is, bide your time, get good grades, and in another year or so, you won’t have to worry about doing the 100 meter sprint from building to building to get petitions signed.
