Independent Council
IC hits spring hard

Jacob D. Hunt
Independent Council President

Spring break is coming, and for us here at the Independent Council that means it’s survey time. The Council has already begun the selection and packaging process, which means the surveys will arrive in your professors’ mailboxes right after spring break is over. It is noted, however, on the survey distribution notes that there is a typo on the survey. If you are from the class of 2005, please select “Other” for your class year.

On a more upbeat note, I am actually quite pleased to mention how proud I am of the Council as of late. In the last few months we have progressed from traditional “self-government,” (a problem which plagues student government as a whole, i.e. dealing with issues relating only to the IC, etc.) to more important community-oriented issues. Among these, the IC has handed out and already tabulated last semester’s surveys, and sponsored a social event (thanks to Sheer Idiocy) to benefit all those on campus.

So what’s on our hit list next? The IC plans to release all of its survey results online, on our website, in the near future. This means you can gain access to what others have said about the most popular elective and introductory courses on campus at any time. In addition to this, the IC is still working on our deteriorating campus stairways, this semester’s survey, and (by the grace of the Executive Board) trying to sponsor at least one more social event. Do you have input? E-mail all of us at ic@union.rpi.edu.
