This week’s athletes of the week are senior shortstop Tori Hunt and sophomore catcher Taylor Ten Eyck of softball.
In six games this past week, Hunt accumulated four multi-hit games and batted 11 for 22 overall. Furthermore, Hunt tallied three runs and three RBIs to help the Engineers win four out of six games this week. So far this season, Hunt has a batting average of .431, which ranks her third in the Liberty League, behind only RPI’s sophomore Morgan Ten Eyck and Rochester’s Taylor Fravel.
During last weekend’s home stretch, Ten Eyck hit six for 19 and drove in five runs. Last Saturday afternoon, Ten Eyck added a towering home run to left center that iced a 5-0 win for the Engineers against RIT. In addition, Ten Eyck has played great defensive softball all season, making zero errors in the last 24 games and just two for the whole season. Of people with 150-plus fielding opportunities, Ten Eyck ranks third for fielding percentage (.987) in the Liberty League.
