Final two games of home season incorporate unusual jerseys, senior ceremonies

JUNIOR FORWARD MATT NEAL GUIDES the puck down the ice during RPI’s Saturday tie against rival Clarkson University. The game wrapped up Rensselaer’s home season and was concluded with a ceremony for seniors.

The Engineers played their two final home games of the season this past weekend as they took on St. Lawrence and Clarkson. RPI fell to St. Lawrence on Friday 4-0. Friday was also Military Appreciation Night at the Houston Field House, which saw the Engineers don camoflauge uniforms.

Saturday night was a more successful night for the Engineers as they played Clarkson to a 2-2 tie in front of a sold out crowd. Jacob Laliberte scored the first goal for the Engineers Saturday night on a power play. Laliberte’s goal was assisted by Mike Zalewski. Ryan Haggerty scored the Engineers’ second goal with assists from Brock Higgs and Craig Bokenfohr.

Haggerty’s goal was his 24th of the season, keeping him atop the list of goal scorers in the Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference. After the weekend, Rensselaer sits at No. 7 in the ECAC standings with 19 points.

The Engineers finish up the regular season next weekend as they go on a road trip to play Brown and Yale.
