DESPITE THE EXCITEMENT OF HOMECOMING WEEKEND, THE WOMEN’S FIELD HOCKEY TEAM FELL short of victory against St. Lawrence University on Saturday, October 5, in a 2-0 loss. Although the Engineers outshot the Saints 26-8 and held a 13-4 penalty corner advantage, they simply just could not put the ball past SLU’s Nicole Matos. Junior RPI goalkeeper Hannah Clough put in a good effort, making five saves and only letting one shot past her in the first half and one in the second, but the Engineers remained scoreless. This puts Rensselaer at an overall record of 3-7 and 0-4 in the league. Hopefully, they will be able to advance to a win on Wednesday night as they host non-conference Utica College.
