Poly grateful for community involvment

As everyone who has been keeping up with The Poly recently can tell, we have been in some moderately dire straits. With financial setbacks, recruiting difficulties, and a struggle to remain relevant in an increasingly instant-information age, the paper has been struggling to maintain its identity and deliver quality news to the Rensselaer community. Editor cherishes friends

It was only yesterday that I remember being a freshman in college, fresh off the plane and lugging my three suitcases and a heavy backpack up the hill to my residence hall. I remember the dreary and slightly rainy day and how my first friend at RPI helped me drag my things up the hill and into my room all the way in the back of the Burdett Avenue Residence Hall C-wing. Grand Marshal discusses policies of Health Center, Public Safety to help students

For the past two weeks, the Senate has had guest speakers from RPI come in to talk about their respective fields and how they affect student life on this campus. By educating all of us on issues and policies, that students seem to be unaware of or are in need of a refresher, these visits have been a very positive experience both for Senators and for students. I want to continue this trend because I feel that it is beneficial to talk about our campus policies and so I encourage anyone to attend the Senate meetings to hear about topics relating to our student experience.
