Father’s to sell Seattle’s Best

Training offered for club webmasters, enjoy winter activities around campus

Hey RPI!

Two weeks down, and only a few days left until our four day weekend and the Big Red Freakout!

In Executive Board news, the Board heard a presentation by Sodexo about coffee in Father’s Marketplace. We will be changing coffee providers because our beloved Green Mountain Coffee is pulling out of the retail market. We will be changing to a delicious alternative with Seattle’s Best. The E-Board was able to do a taste testing while a representative from Seattle’s Best came to answer any and all of our questions about our coffee needs. Before the end of the semester, this new coffee will be incorporated into Father’s. In this week’s meeting, we will be hearing proposals from RPIgnite, The Polytechnic, and the Rules and Elections Committee as well, and will vote on our recommendation to the Senate for the Student Activity fee and the Union Annual Report. I would like to thank the Union Annual Report Committee for all their help with creating the UAR, especially the chair Shoshana Rubinstein. This Thursday, Shoshana will be presenting the UAR to the Senate during their weekly meeting in Union Room 3202 from 8–10 pm. The meeting is open to all, so if you would like to see the presentations, please attend!

This week was also the first training session held by the Union Marketing and Advertising Committee for club webmasters to teach them how to manage and take advantage of their new club landing page on the new Rensselaer Union website. At this training they learned how to edit their pages to best represent and advertise their club and activities. There will be another training session for webmaster training on Wednesday, February 18th from 4–5 pm in Union 3202 for those who missed the first session and want learn about how to personalize your club landing pages. I hope all of you are enjoying your new website!

Looking a little further into the future, we have some exciting events coming up! This weekend is the 37th annual Big Red Freakout! where RPI will take on Yale. I will be at the door with fellow student government officials greeting fans and handing out this year’s giveaway. Can’t wait to see you there! The following weekend is the Winter Carnival, a beloved winter tradition here are RPI. This year’s Carnival is shaping up to be a ton of fun! Come up to East Campus Athletic Village on Saturday, February 21st from 9 am–9 pm for games, prizes, food, inflatables, sledding and ice sculpting competitions, and to just enjoy RPI in the winter with all of your classmates. Our women’s ice hockey team also has their senior game in the middle of the festivities that Saturday, so we can take a break from the cold to go cheer on our classmates in their last home game of the season!

Reminder that this semester, our E-Board meetings are on Tuesdays from 8–10 pm in the Shelnutt Gallery, Union Room 3606. This means that proposals are due Mondays at noon so that I have time to put together and send out the agenda 24 hours before the meeting. Office hours were originally announced to be Wednesdays from 10:30 am–1:30 pm but due to changing schedules, I have to change the times to Wednesdays 8–10:30 am. If you need to meet with me and cannot make it at that time please don’t hesitate to send me an e-mail at pu@rpi.edu. Enjoy your long weekend!
